Athletics update 2/25/21
Athletes, parents and community,
We are less than a week away from our first contests of the ’20-’21 school year. As excited as we are to start watching our students compete again, there are still many protocols that need to be followed based on OHA and OSAA requirements. Here are a few items to consider as our seasons begin.
- Schedules will be very fluid and will change often throughout this season, due to many factors including shortages in bussing, referees and COVID protocols. For the most current schedules, please check OSAA.org or our athletic schedules online at https://www.intermountainconference.org/public/genie/568/school/2/
- Currently we have very strict limitations on who can be in a venue for any athletic contests. For Season 2 sports (Football, soccer, volleyball and cross country), no spectators will be allowed into an event. We do have the Pixellot camera system in Warburg Court, which will allow us to live stream contests from there. For soccer and football, we are working on a platform to livestream events. More information about livestreaming will be available next week.
- Our league is comprised of six schools from five different counties. Most of the schools in the IMC are not allowing fans, however based on individual county metrics, opportunities may come up to attend contests in other counties. If those opportunities arise, that will be communicated to those specific programs and parents ahead of time.
- When our student athletes are traveling on the bus to various events, students will only be sitting one person per seat and masks will be mandated the entire trip. When our athletes get on a bus, they will be required to be pre-screened before they leave. Anyone showing COVID symptoms will not be allowed to attend the event.
Specific communications involving each sport will be communicated through the sports coaching staff. If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 541-966-3805.
Thank you,
Mike Somnis
