Please help us celebrate and pay tribute to our retirees from the Pendleton School District.

Today, we congratulate Alice Thomas, an art teacher at PHS.  Alice has worked in the district for 4 years. Seeing the amazing creativity coming from the students and hearing them laugh is something she will miss the most.  Alice wanted to be a teacher when she was young and was deterred by bank work and motherhood.  She’s always enjoyed teaching people of all ages new skills and watching that moment of discovery when they realize they CAN do something they didn’t know they could do.

Alice’s word of wisdom is an art-specific quote that has meant a lot to her students over the years:  “Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” -Twyla Tharp, dancer and choreographer.
